Workshop on Metadata and Geoportal was held in the framework of the regional IMPULSE project in Belgrade from 16th to 18th December 2014.
IMPULSE project supports the implementation of the INSPIRE directive in the Western Balkans. Regional cadastral and cartographic institutions are the main beneficiaries of the project.
In Belgrade, in the period from 16th to 18th December 2014, the workshop was held where were discussed the basic components of spatial data infrastructure, metadata and services to access and dissemination of the spatial data. The workshop was attended by regional representatives responsible for the implementation of components WP4 – Metadata and Quality Evaluation and WP5 – Dissemination.
Representatives of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registration Agency Lantmäteriet, presented the status of SDI/INSPIRE implementation in Sweden including the national geoportal, services for the spatial data sets, data harmonization, organizational structure and institutional cooperation on data sharing. As a regional example for the exchange of spatial data, it was presented portal of the Macedonian Crisis Management Centre.
Regional representatives in charge of metadata and geo-portal presented the current status on metadata harvesting, development of geoportals and technical platform for publishing of services. In addition, the Swedish representatives introduced participants about the experience of the Nordic countries on cooperation and exchange of data and how to resolve issues of cross-border data harmonization.
During the workshop were discussed the planning of future activities on the implementation of the project components for metadata and geoportal. It was proposed to develop a draft regional metadata profile and accompanying guidelines in accordance with the INSPIRE Implementing Rules. Also, possibilities were considered for all beneficiaries in the project to create WMS services in order to test the cross-border data sharing.
