Second year cadets of the Military Academy, visited the Republic Geodetic Authority on 15.11.2016.
Within the course of spatial data infrastructure, cadets in the second year of the Military Academy, the module military – geodetic engineering, visited the Republic Geodetic Authority in order to review the current and planned future activities in this field.
Pursuant to this request were prepared three presentations by RGA experts from the Sector for informatics and communications. The introductory part explains the organizational structure and competence of the RGA, distribution of data based on Web-based applications, current activities on the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure and the vision and strategic objectives of the Republic Geodetic Authority. This was followed by a presentation on the establishment of the NSDI in Serbia, where are presented and processed topics concerning the Inspire Directive, the importance of NSDI in emergency situations, the importance of the legislation, the next steps regarding the development in this field and the presentation of current international projects that contribute to the development of the NSDI. In the last presentation, Eurogeographics products were presented in detail as well as participation of the RGA in their development and methods for updating products.
The presentations were followed by questions and discussion about the most interesting issues related to the future of the national spatial data infrastructure.
At the end of presentation, professors from the Military Academy and representatives of the Republic Geodetic Authority have jointly expressed their satisfaction with the introduction of the subject spatial data infrastructure with the expectation that the importance of a national spatial data infrastructure is to be recognized by the other related educational institutions that will follow this example.
