The public debate on the draft law on national infrastructure of geospatial data was held on 21st of November 2016, at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia in Belgrade.
A round table was held on which participated representatives of ministries, public companies, provincial authorities and local government.
The opening speech was held by Miroslav Miletic, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Borko Draskovic, Director of the Republic Geodetic Authority.
The Draft Law on national infrastructure of geospatial data was presented by Darko Vucetic, the head of the Department for the establishment and development of the NSDI.
The main objectives that meet the adoption of this law are:
– The creation of a national infrastructure for the provision of geospatial information for the public sector, the economy and the general public;
– Ensuring the exchange of high-quality, standardized and interoperable spatial data sets and services based on cooperation within the geosector;
– Efficient and cost-effective exchange of information between the public and private sectors by using common spatial data through services that guarantee the availability, quality and timeliness;
– Create a framework to support the development of national information society and international cooperation based on the latest initiatives and participation in current European projects.
After the presentation, participants actively participated in the discussion and gave their suggestions on the Draft Law. All those present supported the adoption of this Law which will promote the exchange of information as well as on national and regional level.
Public hearings on the Draft Law will continue until 7th of December 2016.
