Licencing Geospatial Data Workshop Held

On November 26 and 27 a workshop on the subject of licencing geospatial data was held in the Republic Geodetic Authority. The workshop was held by Gunnar Lysell, Swedish expert in the field of business and National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).

The goal of the workshop was to transfer Swedish experience in creating different kinds of licences (for commercial and free use, as well as open data licences), but also to inform the RGA employees on the practical application of agreements and licences , as well as EU regulations in this field.

On the second day of the workshop, the representatives of the RGA presented the current state of NSDI in Serbia and the means by which spatial data are exchanged and shared between institutions, as well as terms of use. Practical work followed, during which SWOT analysis of the existing manner of exchange and sharing of spatial data was performed on a typical agreement of sharing RGA data. The workshop ended with a discussion and expert’s recommendations for further work in this field.
