Final Workshop of the INSPIRATION Project

Final Workshop of the INSPIRATION Project was held 29. 01. 2014. in Ispra, Italy.

The workshop was organized by JRC (Joint Research Center), entitled “Support to the implementation of INSPIRE in the enlargement and ENP countries.” The main objective of the workshop was to transfer knowledge and experience gained in the implementation of the INSPIRATION project in the Western Balkans countries to colleagues from Moldova and Ukraine, where INSPIRATION project is yet to begin.

Welcome to the workshop participants wished Alessandro Anonni head of the spatial data infrastructure unit, while the Vlado Cetl chaired the workshop.

The main topics that were presented during the workshop:

  • INSPIRE maintenance and implementation – Michael Lutz

  • INSPIRE process and evaluation – Paul Smits

  • NSDI Status in Ukraine and Moldova – Tomaž Petek

  • INSPIRATION project overview for countries of the Western Balkans Fritz Kroiss, Nikola Cvjetković, Sonja Dimova, Tomislav Ciceli, Bozidar Pavicevic and Srdjan Dabic

Beside the colleagues from JRC and from regional cadastral and mapping institutions, workshop was attended by representatives of the World Bank Rumyana Tonchovska. Eighteen representatives from Ukraine have canceled their attendance at the workshop due to the current political situation in their country. All material presented is filmed and sent to colleagues from Ukraine in order to get familiar with the benefits of the INSPIRATION project.

At the end of the workshop the opportunities and benefits for region were examined through continuation of INSPIRATION project.
