Borko Drašković, Acting Director of the Republic Geodetic Authority appointed Chairman of the Council of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia made a decision on the appointment of Borko Drašković, Acting Director of the Republic Geodetic Authority, for the President of the Council of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) at the meeting held on 2nd of February 2016.
Article 166 of the Law on State Survey and Cadastre allows appointment of the President and members of the Council of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
NSDI Council was appointed for the first time at the government session held on 21st of January 2010, and consists of ten members who are appointed and dismissed by the Government.
NSDI enables linking and exchange of harmonized spatial data from different sources from various data owners and makes them easily accessible to users via the Internet.
The goal of the NSDI is to create a common national framework for the exchange of spatial environmental information between public institutions and better opportunities for public access to spatial information. Successfully established NSDI is an important support for the development of e-government. NSDI also complements the international network of the services, and it is especially important to cooperate at european level in the field of geoinformation.
The authorizations of the Council of the NSDI are defined by the Article 167 of the Law on State Survey and Cadastre.
So far eight meetings of the Council of the NSDI were held. By the appointment of the President of the Council, the conditions have been created for the holding of the new session
